We rarely ask for help for specific animals in need but we have been fighting two lifesaving battles since November; one for Stanley, our 16 month old cat with mega esophagus and for Rusty, our 8 year old dog with a very very sick heart.

Stanley has been in and out of the ER due to his feeding tube and aspirational pneumonia and Rusty has major heart issues in addition to heartworm and almost died after his adverse reaction to the heartworm treatment; They both were in 2 different ERs within one week of one another..

The expense of each alone is high but with both of them at the same time, it is impossible for us to continue caring for them. Again, it is rare we request such financial help but please help us help them.

They each deserve a chance. Every soul deserves a chance...they are each fighting to live. We will provide medical bills upon request.

You can make a donation via this link directly to Rustys fundraising campaign on GivingGrid:

STANLEY IS IN URGENT NEED. We adopted him out as a kitten but a week later he was diagnosed with megaesophagus (food doesn't get to stomach properly). With treatment he improved but then developed aspirational pneumonia and almost died.
Little Stanley is a fighter but he was again in ER and needs substantial treatment, at great cost, to get well.
We are currently running a fundraising campaign on GivingGrid, which is a crowd funding website. We need to raise $5,000.00 to cover the costs of Stanley's care. Any donation you can give will be appreciated.
You can make a donation via this link directly to little Stanley's fundraising campaign on GivingGrid: Please share this with others you know who may also wish to help. We thank you for your continued support of PAWS and thank you on behalf of Little Stanley.

Thank you, Rachel

This past week, we got a call from a senior who has cancer that has difficulty walking her St. Bernard/hound mix as well as grooming him. Thankfully, we have our partner, Rachel, owner of Dog Grooming By Rachel, who generously provides us grooming services for our dogs in the program. She has been working with us for past 2 years or so. Thank you, Rachel, for all you do! Check out her work on her Facebook page!

Unconditional Love ... Adopt a Dog vspace= We are recognized by the IRS as 501(c)(3), not for profit organization; we are chartered in New York State. Contributions are fully deductible to the extent of the law. Every dollar goes directly towards helping the animals. There is no money spent on salaries, rent or professional fund raising.

PAWS has many programs which are helpful in achieving our goals. PAWS operates Humane Education Program to help children to understand the importance of taking responsibility for their pets, including spaying/neutering. PAWS operates a humane education program that is presented to school aged students each year. The program is called “PAWS To Learn” and is offered free to schools, libraries, scouts and other civic groups. The New York State mandated curriculum is presented at an age appropriate level to various grades. PAWS has a low-cost spay/neuter program which enables many families to have their pets altered who would otherwise be unable to do so for financial reasons. This service is also provided for stray animals. Consequently, this reduces the number of unwanted animals that enter our already over burdened and over-populated shelters. Thousands of animals are spayed/neutered each year through our program which greatly reduces the number of animals being born and thus, the number being destroyed. We also have a free spay/neuter program for felines. Other programs also include: Seniors for Seniors and PAWS pet food distribution program. Please see our Programs page for a complete listing of all of our Programs.

We welcome any and all donations. You can make your check payable to PAWS and send to P.O. Box 861, Hicksville, New York 11802-0861. Or go to our Donations page link above.

Please remember that adopting a pet from the shelter means that you have saved a life.
