PAWS Has Puppies...Mom Too
UPDATE: Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society, Inc pulled Goldie and her pups from shelter; sadly, four died so we have Goldie and her 7 puppies. We really wanted to give this family a chance at life and wanted to assure these puppies stayed with their mom to be raised properly; thankfully one of our wonderful volunteers stepped up and is fostering the whole family. We immediately had to take one of the puppies to the vet where he was hospitalized for several days with pneumonia, but luckily, he pulled thru and is back with his family. We also are treating Goldie for heartworm as she came to us heartworm positive. We will keep the puppies with their mom until they are about 12 weeks old so their mom can teach them how to grow up to be well mannered dogs. The moms do an excellent job of raising good, confident, well mannered dogs if they are given the time to do so, which is why pups should stay with their mom until about 12 weeks. They will be looking for homes at that point; please see their upcoming posts.

hospitalization bill for the one pup- each puppy will need their puppy
vax, all of their puppy exams, deworming, sterilization, etc. Please

Fosters/Homes Needed – Long Island, NY area
No, that is NOT a typo. This beautiful 5yr old Golden Retriever mix is Goldie. She is a stray that gave birth 3 weeks ago to 11 of the cutest puppies ever….8 female and 3 male. Goldie and her babies can be saved from a high-kill shelter as we have a foster to take them in and care for the mom and her puppies; she is willing to provide a safe and loving temporary home until they are old enough to be separated, but we need funds for them. Please donate towards their fundraiser- every dollar helps.
Once we can get them, they will be cared for, weaned and socialized. After that, they will need fosters/homes of their own. Goldie as well. She will be spayed and UTD on all. Goldie is super sweet and is great with other dogs. Cats are unknown.
